Chief of the department: Teplykh Boris Anatolyevich, M.D., anesthesiologist, critical care physician, assistant of the academic department.

The purpose of the department is to conduct all types of anesthesia and intensive care for patients entering the planned surgical treatment. Our motto is “Absence of pain and patient safety at all stages of treatment”. Any diagnostic procedures associated with discomfort for the patient can be performed under sedation or anesthesia.

Doctors of the department perform anesthesia for all kinds of endoscopic examinations and procedures (gastro-duodenoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, esophageal echocardiography). A unique complex of magnetically-protected anesthesia apparatus, syringe and peristaltic dispensers, an expert patient’s monitor allows anesthesia and intensive therapy in conditions of magnetic resonance imaging for patients of any severity category, which means that the study in a magnetic field can be carried out in patients with a fear of confined space, with severe pain syndromes and in critical conditions.

Already at the stage of examination the patient gets acquainted with the doctor and receives all possible assistance for a comfortable continuation of diagnosis and treatment. The program of anesthesia during the operation is developed individually for each patient, taking into account his condition, the extent of surgical intervention, the wishes of the surgeons and the patient himself. All doctors have modern technologies for anesthesia: inhalation anesthesia with modern halogen-containing preparations and xenon, total intravenous anesthesia with dosing of drugs at the target concentration, all kinds of regional anesthesia, spinal, epidural blocks, conductive blockages of the nerves of the upper and lower extremities.

Intensive therapy continues in intensive care units for patients after extensive surgical interventions. All technologies available in the arsenal of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine № 1 are quickly applied to solve emerging problems. That allows conducting surgical interventions for patients of senile age, patients with severe concomitant diseases of cardiovascular, respiratory systems, renal insufficiency.

After transferring patients to the wards of the profile departments, they remain under the supervision of an anesthesiologists and intensivists, to continue successful rehabilitation, various types of prolonged neuro-axial or peripheral blockades continue.

This is how our concept is realized: “Lack of pain and patient safety at all stages of treatment”.
