November 15 and 16, 2019 at the Pirogov Center a scientific and practical conference" Pirogov Ophthalmological Forum “with international participation was held.

Over 500 ophthalmologists and researchers from Russia and foreign countries took part in its work.

The conference was opened by First Deputy General Director of the Pirogov Center D.N. Nikitenko, who greeted the audience at the Pirogov Center, emphasized the importance and significance of the event, wished fruitful work to its participants and presented a welcome address from the Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation V.I. Skvortsova.

The chief ophthalmologist of the Pirigov Center M. M. Shishkin delivered a welcoming speech and an honorary lecture.

Head of the Ophthalmology Center M.D., Ph.D. R.R. Fayzrakhmanov greeted the participants, and also noted the relevance of the declared topics of the conference.

The Pirogov Ophthalmological Forum brought together different areas of ophthalmology and included the following main meetings:

  • Vitreoretinal surgery;
  • Cataract surgery;
  • Endophthalmitis;
  • Innovations in ophthalmology;
  • Innovative technologies in corneal therapy and surgery.

On the first day of the conference, a session of “live surgery” was held with live video broadcasting of surgery from the Ophthalmology Center of the Pirogov Center. During the session, 5 operations were performed, which were performed by leading ophthalmologists of the country.

The conference is accredited in the system of continuing medical education. Conference participants received a certificate for 12 credits and a diploma of the participant.

Speaking experts and guests noted the high level of organization of the event and supported the proposal of the Pirogov Center to organize an expanded forum next year.
