September 13-15, 2018 in Yaroslavl the XXXIV International Conference of the Russian Society of Angiologists and Vascular Surgeons was held — “Prospects for the Development of Vascular Surgery in the Country and Its Regions”, which gathered more than 700 participants from all regions of the Russian Federation, as well as colleagues from the near and far foreign countries.

Employees of the Pirogov Center took an active participation in the conference.

Chief surgeon of the Pirogov Center, Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation, prof. Yu.M. Stoiko, being a member of the organizing committee of the conference, acted as the chairman of a number of sections: “Venous thrombosis: surgical and conservative treatment”, “Stenting veins: pro and con. Problems and ways of their solution”, “Tactics of treatment of VTE in special groups of patients. Extended anticoagulant therapy”.

Chief of the Department of X-ray surgical methods of diagnosis and treatment, prof. A.G. Viller, as co-chair of the section on venous stenting, made a report “Recanalization of chronically occluded veins in patients with post-thrombotic disease. Problems and opportunities beyond the possible”. The work of this section expresses high confidence in the scientific and practical experience of the departments of vascular surgery and X-ray surgical methods of diagnosis and treatment of the Pirogov Center.

Poster report “Intraoperative neuromonitoring in carotid endarterectomy” was presented by prof. V.A. Batrashov, head of the department of vascular surgery S.S. Yudaev, M.G. Podgurskaya, a neurologist and specialist in functional diagnostics. The results of the joint work of the departments of vascular surgery, neurology and clinical neurophysiology of the Pirogov Center are presented, demonstrating a significant decrease in the number of intra- and postoperative neurological complications in patients with brachiocephalic artery lesions.

In the annual report on the state of vascular surgery in the Russian Federation, which also includes materials from the Pirogov Center, President of the Russian Society of Angiologists and Vascular Surgeons, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, prof. A.V. Pokrovsky stressed the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of each patient, and this approach is effectively implemented in the Pirogov Center!
